Where should I start?
If you want Cajun romantic comedy: The Love Potion → Tall, Dark, and Cajun → The Cajun Cowboy.
If you like Vikings and time travel: The Reluctant Viking → The Outlaw Viking → The Tarnished Lady.
If you want modern Viking chaos: The Last Viking → Truly, Madly Viking → The Very Virile Viking.
If paranormal romance sounds fun: Kiss of Pride → Kiss of Surrender → Kiss of Temptation.
If you prefer later small-town romance: The Forever Christmas Tree → Life, Love and the Pursuit of Happiness → A Hero Comes Home.
Author bio
Sandra Hill was born on June 11, 1942, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, and grew up in the small-town world of central Pennsylvania. She later joked that she had been a serious, shy girl, the sort who blushed easily and found safe hiding places in books.
One of those places was the library in Lock Haven, a three-story Victorian house with window nooks and quiet corners. She also attended St. Agnes School with her sister Flora, in a strict Catholic setting that makes the bawdy humor of her later romances feel even funnier.
That contrast became part of the charm.
Hill graduated from Lock Haven University and Penn State, then spent more than ten years in journalism. She worked as a feature writer and education editor for newspapers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and she was reporting for the Trenton Evening Times when she met Robert Hill, who later became her husband. They raised four sons, Beau, Robb, Matt, and Daniel.
Her move into fiction came after years of writing about real people and serious issues. Romance gave her room to do something different: take pain, embarrassment, family chaos, culture shock, and longing, then turn the whole mess toward laughter and love.
Her first published romance, The Reluctant Viking, set the tone for much of what followed. Hill liked bold setups. A modern woman could be swept into the Viking past. A Norse warrior could land in a modern living room. A shy chemist could discover a love potion, only to have the wrong Cajun bad boy swallow it.
She kept returning to a few favorite ingredients: rowdy families, stubborn women, heroes who needed humbling, and second chances that were rarely tidy. In the Cajun books, especially The Love Potion, Tall, Dark, and Cajun, and The Cajun Cowboy, she built a warm, noisy bayou world around the LeDeux family and the matchmaker and folk healer Tante Lulu. In the Viking books, including The Last Viking and A Tale of Two Vikings, she leaned into time travel, culture clash, and very confused Norsemen. Later, the Deadly Angels series added paranormal romance with Viking vampire angels fighting demon vampires under the eye of St. Michael.
It was not quiet fiction.
Hill’s books were published across contemporary romance, historical romance, time travel, and paranormal romance. They reached bestseller lists, won romance awards, and found a loyal audience that came back for her mix of heat, slapstick, big-hearted families, and heroes who often needed a firm shove in the right direction.
Sandra Hill died on March 26, 2026, at her home in State College, Pennsylvania, after a long illness. She left behind more than fifty romantic comedies and romances, along with a fictional universe full of Cajun aunties, Vikings, Navy SEALs, treasure hunters, and men who really should have known better.
