Author bio

Sarah Adams was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, and she still writes from the city she grew up in. She talks often about loving warm days, her close-knit family, and making people smile, which shows up clearly in the kind of stories she tells.

As a kid she was the reader who always had a book in her bag and a new story turning over in the back of her mind. She dreamed for years about becoming a novelist but put it off while life filled up with marriage, work, and eventually two daughters.

When her girls were little, she finally ran out of excuses and began drafting her first novel during nap times, learning how to build a writing habit in the quiet pockets of a busy day.

Those early pages became her Regency set Dalton Family stories, starting with To Con a Gentleman and To Catch A Suitor, where con artists, earls, and strong willed sisters fall in love in ballrooms and country estates. Not long after, she shifted into contemporary romance with the It Happened in Nashville and It Happened in Charleston books, trading carriages for pickup trucks, donut shops, and service dogs.

Her big breakthrough came with the friends to lovers sports rom com The Cheat Sheet, followed by The Rule Book, which let her lean fully into the mix of humor, longing, and slow burn chemistry that readers now expect from her work. The Rome, Kentucky novels, beginning with When in Rome and continuing through Practice Makes Perfect and Beg, Borrow, or Steal, cemented her reputation for cozy small town stories that still carry real emotional weight.

Readers are drawn to the way she keeps the steam off the page without dialing back the intensity of the connection. Her couples kiss, pine, and flail their way toward each other, surrounded by siblings, teammates, and nosy neighbors who nudge them along.

Across all of her series, certain patterns repeat in the best way. Her books are closed door but high on tension, full of banter, found families, and characters who are trying to be kind even when they are a bit of a mess. She writes about single parents, chronic illness, anxiety, sibling rivalries, and careers that do not go to plan, but she always steers those struggles toward hope.

Service dogs in Charleston, NFL stars in Los Angeles, rival teachers and pie bakers in Rome, Kentucky, all live in the same story universe of big feelings, good hearted people, and second chances.

These days Adams describes herself as a coffee addict, a British history nerd, and an indecisive introvert who is happiest at home with her husband, their daughters, and a cat curled up nearby while she writes. She tours regularly to meet readers but still builds her schedule around everyday family life. At the center of it all is a simple goal she has repeated since those nap time drafting days, to write romances that make readers laugh, maybe tear up a little, and close the book feeling lighter than when they opened it.
