Author bio

Natasha Preston’s journey to becoming a bestselling author is the kind of story that proves you don’t need to have your entire life mapped out by the age of eighteen. Born in England, she has spent the majority of her years tucked away in the quiet, picturesque setting of small villages and countryside towns. It sounds idyllic, but for a long time, she wasn’t sure where she fit into the bigger picture.

Like many creative minds, Natasha didn't necessarily shine in the rigid structure of the school system. She drifted through her education with average grades, never quite feeling that spark that tells you what your career is supposed to be. After leaving school, she settled into a routine of administration and receptionist roles. For a while, she assumed this was simply her path—working a steady nine-to-five and living a normal, quiet life. She didn't grow up dreaming of being a novelist, nor did she spend her childhood filling notebooks with stories.

Everything changed in 2010, almost by accident.

While browsing the app store on her phone, simply looking for something to pass the time, she stumbled across Wattpad. At first, she was just a reader. She enjoyed scrolling through the endless library of amateur stories written by people just like her. But the more she read, the more an idea began to take root. She realized that she didn’t just want to consume these stories; she wanted to tell them.

She began typing out her own ideas, uploading them chapter by chapter. To her surprise, she found a warm and encouraging community on the platform. The feedback from readers gave her a confidence she hadn’t found in school or her office jobs. This newfound passion eventually led to her debut novel, Silence. What started as a self-published project born online quickly gained momentum, finding a massive audience that resonated with her voice.

Today, Natasha is best known for her high-stakes Young Adult thrillers. If you have walked into a bookstore recently, you have likely seen titles like The Cellar and The Cabin on the shelves. Her thrillers have a distinct style: they often take ordinary, relatable teenagers and thrust them into absolutely terrifying situations.

Readers love these books because they explore the darker side of human nature and the desperate drive for survival. She creates scenarios that make you wonder, "What would I do if this happened to me?" The tension is high, the secrets are deep, and the safety of the characters is never guaranteed.

However, she isn’t just about scares and suspense. Alongside her thrillers, Natasha writes contemporary romance novels. These books allow her to explore a different emotional landscape. Instead of kidnapping and survival, these stories focus on emotional trauma, the difficult journey of healing, and the complexity of relationships. It shows a versatile side to her writing, proving she can handle both heart-pounding fear and heart-wrenching love.

Now a full-time writer, Natasha has left the administration desks far behind. She lives with her husband, Joseph, and their two sons. When she isn’t plotting her next twisty thriller or drafting a romance, she is usually doing the things she has always enjoyed: spending time with her family, getting lost in a good book, or binge-watching TV shows. It is a long way from drifting through school, but it turns out she found her path exactly when she was supposed to.
